The climate control irrigation system required for vine tomato cultivation, as well as the ideal irrigation/nutrition automation, is provided by the climate control irrigation systems of two leading companies from the Netherlands and the United States. The greenhouse temperature and humidity requirements of tomato plants are managed through high-pressure misting, fans, thermal curtains, and geothermal heating in this fully automated computer-controlled system.
During times when temperatures drop to -15 degrees Celsius in winter, Teknosera tomato greenhouses utilize renewable geothermal energy for heating. In this environmentally friendly practice, the geothermal water used to heat the greenhouse is reinjected underground. Additionally, Bumblebees are used for the pollination process of flowers, ensuring naturalness is maintained.
With recent investments in solar panel installations, Teknosera now meets all the electricity needs of its vine, cherry, and sugar (pump) tomato-producing greenhouses, as well as its orchards of various fruits, from solar energy.
Teknosera closely follows technological developments on the path to achieving zero carbon footprint.
